listening to shearwater again - also makes me think at certain points of richard thompson's voice.
with regard to talk talk and mark hollis, for the moment i rate these albums still higher but i will give it some time. this shearwater is more multi-direction where the last talk talks and mark hollis are more uni-direction (but a direction i really adore). it is definetely the best new album of this year until now. |

agree with you a suprisingly record because also their previous ones weren't bad, but now that they are emancipated theirself from okkervil river (jonathan meiburg definitively left the okkervil for a full time job with the shearwater project) their music has became more intense and original. if you want to take a listening to their previous ones (not good as 'rook' anyway) click over the covers:
2006 - palo santo
2004 - winged life
at the moment my 2nd favourite album of 2008 is:
don't you be frightened by the awful cover art and by the previous sigur ròs records, this one is really different. lighter, folkish and melancholic but not too much symphonic: a joy for the ears!
